The three roles in a Coassemble workspace, what each can do, and how to invite, change and remove the people in it.
How do I invite and manage the people in my workspace?
Open Settings and select Members. You'll see everyone in your workspace with their role, Owner, Creator or Developer, and you can invite new members, change a creator to a developer, transfer ownership, or remove someone from the same list.
Courses are often built by several people at once: subject matter experts, writers, learning designers and the people who share the finished training. Engineers building on the Coassemble API need a different kind of access again. Roles let you give each person the access their work needs.
What can each role do?
- Owner: the person who runs the workspace. Each workspace has one owner, who can do everything a creator can, and also invites and manages members, looks after the plan and billing, configures the SCORM allowlist, and can see the Developer area.
- Creator: creates, shares and views insights on all the courses in your workspace.
- Developer: manages API keys, webhooks and the developer console. Developers work in the Developer area and don't open the course builder, so the engineers wiring Coassemble into your product never touch the courses your team is writing.
Each member has one role, so someone can't be a developer and a creator at the same time.

Creators can't change your plan or payment details or configure the SCORM allowlist. Those stay with the owner.
How do I invite a member?
- Open Settings and select Members.
- Click Invite member.
- Under Role, choose Creator or Developer.
- Type the email addresses of the people you want to add. Separate them with a comma, or press Enter after each one.
- Click Send invite.
Each person gets an email invitation and can create an account to join your workspace. Everyone in the same invite gets the role you chose, so send a separate invite for creators and developers.
To invite creators without opening Settings, click Invite creators at the top of your dashboard.
How do I change a creator to a developer?
- In Members, select the three dots next to the creator.
- Select Make developer.
They stay in your workspace and move to the Developer role, so they'll work in the Developer area in place of the course builder. Courses they built stay in your workspace.
How do I remove a creator?
- In Members, select the three dots next to the creator.
- Select Delete creator.
- Confirm by clicking Delete.
They lose access to your workspace straight away. Everything they created stays in your workspace, including courses, materials and other contributions.
How do I transfer ownership of my workspace?
You can hand ownership to a creator who is already in your workspace.
- In Members, select the three dots next to the creator.
- Select Transfer ownership to.
- Confirm the transfer when prompted.
Only the current owner can transfer ownership, and the new owner's name then shows the Owner label in the Members list.
Frequently asked questions
Where did the Creators tab go?
It's now Members, under Workspace in Settings. It lists developers alongside creators and the owner, since all three are members of the workspace.
Is there a limit on how many creators I can have?
No. Sandbox, Build, Scale and Partner workspaces can have as many creators as you need. Adding a developer doesn't change your number of creators.
When I delete a creator, does their content stay in our workspace?
Yes. Only their access is removed. All the content they created stays. If you delete the entire workspace, though, all its content is removed and you lose access.
