Usage limits

The Usage limits page shows how much of your plan's monthly allowances you've used so far this billing period. This article walks through what each allowance covers, how it's counted, and what happens when you reach a cap.

Where to find your usage limits

Open Settings and select Usage limits from the left-hand menu.

What's on the page

The page is organised in three parts.

Your current plan appears at the top, with the date your subscription started. Use the Compare plans and Upgrade buttons to move to a different plan.

Recipients usage shows how many people have taken your courses this period, split into two categories:

  • Identified recipients (IRs)
  • Anonymous recipients (ARs)

AI usage shows how much of your AI allowance you've used this period:

  • Narration tokens
  • AI image generation events

Each row shows a progress bar with the percentage used. Click into any row to see a description of that usage event and the date the count resets.

How each allowance works

Identified recipients (IRs)

An Identified Recipient is anyone who takes one of your courses with an identifier attached. The identifier might be an email address captured at the point of access, or a unique identifier passed through if Coassemble is embedded in your own product. IRs are counted per workspace per billing period.

You'll capture IRs when you share a course in a way that records identity (an email invitation, a link with email capture turned on, a Slack share with identified access, or an embedded session where your platform passes through an identifier). Each unique person counts as one IR for the period, regardless of how many of your courses they take.

IRs are not available on Flow. Flow uses Anonymous Recipients only.

Anonymous recipients (ARs)

An Anonymous Recipient is anyone who takes one of your courses without an identifier attached. This is the default behaviour for share links where email capture isn't turned on.

ARs are tracked at the device and session level (a combination of browser cookie and device profile). This means uniqueness is approximate: one person across two browsers will count as two ARs, and two people sharing one browser may count as one AR.

Narration tokens

Narration tokens cover AI-generated narration on Voice screens and during AI course generation. One token is one character of generated narration.

Coassemble has two voice catalogues: standard voices and premium voices. Both draw from the same monthly token pool.

AI image generation events

An AI image generation event is one image generated by Coassemble's AI tools and added to your course.

When you generate an image, Coassemble produces four options for you to choose from. The act of choosing one of those four images uses one image generation event.

While you're generating an image, you'll see the number of image generation events you have left for the current billing period in the generation window.

What happens when you hit a cap

On Flow, Pulse, and Hub

These plans have hard caps. When you reach 100% of an allowance, the feature pauses for the rest of the billing period. You'll see an in-product prompt explaining what happened and pointing you to Plans and Billing, and you'll get an email letting you know you've reached the limit.

Everything else in your workspace keeps working. Only the specific allowance that has been hit is paused, and it resumes at the start of the next billing period.

On Embed Core, Embed Automate, and Embed Partner

These plans have soft caps. If you go over 100%, the feature keeps working. The breach is recorded in your Usage limits page, and your account manager will be in touch to talk about adjusting your allowance.

Common questions

When do my allowances reset?

If you're unsure when your allowances reset, you can check inside Usage limits. Each row shows the date the count resets.

Does the Usage limits page show data for the whole workspace or just my activity?

The whole workspace. Allowances are pooled across creators in a workspace.

Will I be told when I reach a limit?

Yes. On the self-service plans (Flow, Pulse, Hub) you'll get an email when you are at 80% of the allowance and once you've reached an allowance, along with an in-product prompt. On the Embed plans, your account manager will reach out.
